rusty tones and basket bags

gorgeous lush rich tones are big this season!

There’s a big movement into rich and rusty tones of late.   Burnt orange, deep tomato and burgundies in a plethora of off-shoots within this specified spectrum, are making big statements.   I’m feeling it like never before, constantly drawn to these impressive and decadent shades.   If you follow my Instagram feed @fifideluxeblog you will see my current obsession!

Even though we’ve seen a pretty hefty break from this delectable earthy palette with in the fashion scene, there is no question it’s return is dominating collections across the board.

If you’re a little shy of this palette, injecting a single piece into a fairly neutral outfit will be effortless and easy as pie.   For instance, with today’s outfit, I’ve added this rusty Free People shirt with a tee and some jeans and it adds a nice warmth.   I can hear some of you saying “this colour wouldn’t work with my skin tone”… More often than not, it will!

These grandpa style jackets in plaid, checks and tweed are also making a big impression right now.   They’re most prevalent with either a brown or grey fleck and come in fitted or baggy silhouettes.   They are great to work in with casual pieces or more structured styles like wide leg pants and cuffed shirting.

A cute logo tee is a key fashion item at the moment!   They can be worn with just about anything from casual denim, to more tailored and structured items like skirts and pants.   There’s such a great mix going on at the moment with styling the “tee” and really anything goes.   I am loving how such a casual street style tee can be thrown in to work back with really chic pieces.

Talk about being a bag lady today!    I have my vintage basket bag for shopping and my Gucci Belt Bag to keep my every day necessities in.   One can never have too many bags, right?   Me thinks so too…

I’m pretty partial to the Bum Bag… I have to say I owned one as a teenager and thought I was pretty cool rocking it.   This little addition to the Gucci Marmont Matelasse family is streamline and effortless.   It’s a great bag and can be worn quite a few ways like across your body, over your shoulder or as intented – like a belt.

I’ve had fun mixing up this cute outfit!   Don’t be afraid to add a few different colours and textures together, as long as they are in a like minded colour palette, you can’t go wrong!
